"You are the archaeologist."

Two new interactive archaeology modules have been designed to allow you to discover how archaeology is done at Jamestown Rediscovery.

Artifact Module

Artifact ModuleStart with a careful virtual excavation of a unit and see what you find. Once you have collected the artifacts, research and record them in the archaeology lab. What year were they buried?

Buildings Module

Buildings ModuleAlthough the original structures at Jamestown are long gone, archaeologists examine many types of evidence to learn how they may have looked.

Starting from a single post hole, can you recreate a building? You can apply for a grant to do some research, but your funds are limited!

These two modules are provided free to all students. You will be asked to provide some basic information before you use them. This will help track their popularity.

Teachers may contact Tonia Rock(trock@apva.org) for information and lesson plans relating to the modules, and information about educational visits to Jamestown.

Theses modules were created by Stories Past through a grant from the Virginia Business Education Partnership.
