The Jamestown Rediscovery Project at Historic Jamestowne

Field School Excavations Near the Church Tower Dyptich Dial Found in an Early James Fort CellarThe archaeologists of the Jamestown Rediscovery Project, led by Dr. William Kelso, have unearthed more than one million artifacts that tell the story of our nation's first permanent settlement in the New World. At Historic Jamestowne, visitors can walk in the footsteps of Pocahontas and Captain John Smith at the fort site and share in the moments of discovery as the archaeologists continue to rediscover the once "lost" 1607 James Fort.
